Three sirens were singing on a piece of rock out at sea. One of them broke off from their chorus to ask:

'Why are we singing just to attract men to torture and kill them?'

The first went back to singing as the second one broke off.

'Because that is what we have been cursed to do.'

The second went back to singing as the third broke off.

'It could be worse. It could be us tortured and then murdered.'

The third went back to singing and the first broke off again.

'But what kind of life is this? Isn't this torture and murder without death? All we do is sing.'

The first went back to singing and the second broke off.

'That depends. I myself love to sing and love putting spells on men and love to torture and kill them.'

The second went back to singing and the third broke off.

'Me too.'

The third went back to singing and the first broke off.

'But how can it be a curse if you like doing it?'

The first went back to singing and the second broke off.

'Because we have no choice; we have to do it. '

The second went back to singing and the third broke off.

'Don't call it a curse. Call it fulfilment.'

A ship came into view.

All three sirens returned to the chorus.
